Prepare for donation, Don’t forget to eat plenty of lean protein the night before and drink water, the donation center will do a quick blood test before the donation and can reject you if you don’t hit the required levels. It is important to note that if you have recently donated blood you will not be able to donate plasma for an extended period of time.

5. Donate your plasma, this is the easy part, in the same way you would donate blood, a phlebotomists will draw the blood from your vein. The blood then travels through the machine and it separates the plasma, while pumping your blood back in your veins with some added saline. It will do this process about 7-8 times, until the required amount has been collected. You will know when your close to being finished a small bag will begin to be filled with the yellowish white plasma. The process likely takes about an hour. A useful hint: the more water you drink before your donation the faster the process will be.The phlebotomists will then wrap your arm to stop the bleeding and send you on your merry way.
